Miss Wales 2011
Sara is our winner!
Pocket-sized Sara Manchipp from Baglan has been crowned Miss Wales 2011 and will now go on to represent Wales at Miss World later this year.
5'3" Sara was chosen by a panel of 11 judges including four former Miss Wales winners (Claire Evans who was Miss Wales 2005, Sarah Fleming who won in 2006; Miss Wales 2008 Chloe-Beth Morgan and Lucy Whitehouse from 2009). X-Factor's Rhydian Roberts and Welsh soprano Rebecca Evans also joined the panel.<
Home from home
Sara teamed up with Wales' leading housebuilder, Redrow, to launch three new developments in one day in July. She travelled from her home in Port Talbot to Maes Ddraenen Wen in Carmarthen; and then on to to Parc Dan y Bryn in Tonyrefail and Caradog Parc in Aberdare. And from what we can see, both Sara and the homes look gorgeous!
Thanks to the Lash and Brow Boutique in Cardiff, Sara will be looking tip top during her Miss Wales reign. The salon is kindly sponsoring Sara throughout the next 12 months and owners, Tracey and Vanessa, will be cheering Sara on at Miss World in the autumn. Here she is pictued with them on her first visit.
In the news
Sara has done lots of media interviews since winning the 2011 title. As a fluent Welsh speaker, she's been particularly popular with the Welsh language TV and radio. Here she is on the sofa of S4C's Wedi Saith. Da iawn Sara!
An 'A' grade Miss Wales
A huge congratulations to Sara who got two As and a D in her A levels. Sara will now go on to study phsychology and counselling at Swansea Metropolitan University. At Miss Wales, we love a girl who works hard and aims high! Well done Miss Wales!
Sara and Mister Wales 2011, Rhodri Ihenacho, recently took part in a photocall for Outfit with the South Wales Echo. As part of their prize package, both Rhodri and Sara have been given a shopping spree at the store where they can spend £300 each. Thanks Outfit! Here Sara is pictured just after the photoshoot with Rhodri, her best friend and Dirty Sanchez star.
Sara is a regular at the Vibe offices to discuss her schedule and plans for Miss World. Her diary includes everything from persoanl appearances and fashion photocalls to charity fundraising and media interviews. The highlight in her diary is Miss World in October and November 2011.
Tanned for Miss World
Tanning giant Su-do Professional has launched a new retail range to compliment its salon professional collection - and our gorgeous Miss Wales was the first to try it out. Sara used the Su-do retail range of products to keep her tan topped-up while she is away at the Miss World competition.
Gayle Harper provided Sara with her tan to arrive at the 61st Miss World in London and also gave her a gift box full of the new retail range.
Sara said: “Competing against women from more than 100 countries across the world, it is important that I look my best and feel my best. I have been a big fan of Sudo since being introduced to it after winning Miss Wales in July. The new retail range couldn’t have been launched at a better time for me as it’s ideal to take to Miss World.”
Gayle added: “Our new products are great for Sara who needs a beauty and tanning routine so that she can maintain a natural looking and flawless bronzed glow when she’s on the move with such a hectic schedule, without the need to visit a salon.”
Only available from accredited Su-do Professional salons, the new line of products allows customers to prepare their skin for a flawless sunless tan as well as top-up their tan between salon visits. It includes an exfoliating Face and Body Scrub, Triple Action Moisturiser, Cream Tan, Gel Tan and a Gradual Tan.
Taking time out to care
Amidst the chaos of preparing for Miss World, the biggest experience of her life, Sara took time to visit the residents of Cartref Annwyl Fan Care Home in Bettws. The bilingual home for the elderly was delighted to welcome Welsh speaking Sara in for afternoon tea. All concerned had such a wonderful time that she's already been invited back for other special occasions.
Sara at Miss World
Sara did Wales proud at Miss World in London. She made the semi finals of a number of fast track qualifiers including Beach Beauty. As well as spending two weeks in London, with young women from 112 other countries, Sara flew to Scotland for several days to see the wonderful sights and sounds of Scotland's main tourist attractions. Sara made wonderful friends along the way. Her favourites include Miss Turkey, Miss Scotland, Miss Northern Ireland and Miss Gibraltar.
Sara sandwiched on Times Square
As well as being Miss Wales and a full time student, Sara holds down a part time job at Subway in Swansea. The Subway PR machine was so thrilled to have a beauty queen among them, that they managed to display images of our lovely Miss Wales on Times Square, New York, during rush hour. We're delighted to see our girl up in lights state side!
